Typing Speed Test
Test your typing speed with a clean, distraction-free interface. A sample paragraph is displayed and you simply start typing to begin the test. The tool measures your words per minute (WPM), accuracy percentage, error count, and elapsed time in real time as you type.
The sample text is displayed with live character-by-character feedback — correct characters turn green, errors turn red, and a cursor indicates your current position. Seven different sample texts are included, covering a range of topics and difficulty levels, so you can practice with variety.
All timing and scoring runs locally in your browser. No data is collected, no account is needed, and the tool works offline once loaded.

Frequently asked questions
How is WPM calculated?▼
Words per minute is calculated as the total number of words you have typed divided by the elapsed time in minutes. A 'word' is any sequence of characters separated by whitespace, matching the standard WPM convention used by most typing tests.
How is accuracy measured?▼
Accuracy is the percentage of characters you typed that exactly match the corresponding character in the sample text. A 95% accuracy means 95 out of every 100 characters you typed were correct.
Can I use my own text for the test?▼
Currently the tool provides seven built-in sample texts. The texts are designed to cover a range of common English vocabulary and sentence structures for a representative typing test.
What is a good WPM score?▼
The average typing speed is 40-45 WPM. 60-70 WPM is above average and comfortable for most office work. 80-100 WPM is fast. Professional typists and programmers often type 100-130 WPM. Above 130 WPM is exceptional.
