The Paper Room

Word to PDF

Upload a .docx file and convert it to a PDF. The tool extracts the text content from the Word document using mammoth.js, then lays it out on A4 pages with basic formatting — Helvetica font, proper word wrapping, and paragraph spacing.

This is an approximate conversion focused on text content. Complex formatting — tables, images, headers/footers, columns, tracked changes, and custom styles — will not be preserved. The result is a clean, readable PDF of the document's text, not a pixel-perfect reproduction of the original Word layout.

For documents where exact layout fidelity matters, use Microsoft Word or Google Docs to export to PDF directly. This tool is best for quick text-focused conversions when you don't have Word installed.

Frequently asked questions

Will tables and images from my Word document appear in the PDF?

No — this tool extracts and converts the text content only. Tables, images, charts, headers/footers, and other non-text elements are not included in the output PDF. For full-fidelity conversion, export directly from Microsoft Word or Google Docs.

Does this work with .doc files (older Word format)?

No, only .docx files (the modern XML-based format introduced in Word 2007) are supported. If you have a .doc file, open it in Word or Google Docs and re-save as .docx first.

Does this upload my document to a server?

No. The conversion happens entirely in your browser using mammoth.js and pdf-lib. Your document never leaves your device.
