The Paper Room

PDF Reader

Upload any PDF document and view it directly in your browser — no plugins, extensions, or desktop software required. The viewer renders each page to a sharp canvas element using the Mozilla pdfjs-dist library, the same engine behind Firefox's built-in PDF viewer. Navigate between pages with previous/next controls and see your current position in the document at a glance.

Zoom in and out in 25% increments, from 50% up to 400%, to comfortably read everything from fine print to large diagrams. The viewer adapts to your screen width, and you can open another file at any time without reloading the page.

Your PDF is processed entirely in your browser. The file is never uploaded to a server, making this a private, offline-capable alternative to cloud-based PDF viewers. Drag and drop a file onto the upload area or use the file picker to get started.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a file size limit?

There is no hard limit, but very large PDFs (over 100 MB) may be slow to load depending on your device's memory and processing power. The tool processes the file entirely in your browser, so performance depends on your hardware.

Can I view password-protected PDFs?

Currently, the viewer does not support entering a password for encrypted PDFs. If you need to view a protected file, you will need to remove the password first using another tool.

Does the PDF get uploaded to a server?

No. The entire rendering process happens locally in your browser using JavaScript. Your file never leaves your device, and the tool works offline once the page has loaded.

Which PDF features are supported?

The viewer supports standard PDF content including text, images, vector graphics, and embedded fonts. Interactive features like form fields, annotations, and multimedia are displayed as static content.

Can I print or download the PDF from the viewer?

The viewer is for reading only. Since you already have the original file on your device, you can open it with your system's default PDF viewer to print or save a copy.
