Frequently asked questions

How does PDF comparison work?

The tool extracts the text content from both PDFs and runs a diff algorithm to highlight additions, deletions, and changes between the two versions. It works page by page for structured comparison.

Can it compare scanned PDFs?

Only if the scanned PDF has an embedded text layer (from OCR). The tool compares extracted text, not visual appearance. Pure image-based scans without a text layer will appear empty.

Does it show visual differences?

The current version performs text-level comparison, not pixel-level visual diff. It highlights which text was added, removed, or changed between versions — similar to track-changes in a word processor.
