Tip Calculator
Enter your bill amount, choose a tip percentage, and see the tip amount, total, and per-person split calculated instantly. Preset buttons for the most common tip percentages (10%, 15%, 18%, 20%, 25%) make it fast, or enter a custom percentage for any other amount.
Splitting the bill is built in — set the number of people and the calculator divides the total evenly, showing the per-person amount. A currency selector lets you switch between common symbols ($, EUR, GBP, JPY, INR, and more) so the display matches wherever you are.
Useful at restaurants, for ride shares, delivery tips, hair salons, hotel housekeeping, and any situation where you need a quick tip calculation. Everything runs in your browser with no data sent anywhere.

Frequently asked questions
What is the standard tip percentage in the US?▼
In the US, 15-20% is the standard range for sit-down restaurant service. 15% is considered acceptable, 18% is common, and 20% or more is generous. For counter service or takeout, 0-10% is typical. Tipping norms vary by country — many countries outside the US don't tip or tip much less.
How do I calculate a tip without a calculator?▼
For a 10% tip, move the decimal point one place left. For 20%, double the 10% amount. For 15%, take the 10% amount and add half of it. For example, on a $48 bill: 10% = $4.80, so 15% = $4.80 + $2.40 = $7.20, and 20% = $9.60.
Should I tip on the pre-tax or post-tax amount?▼
Etiquette guides generally say to tip on the pre-tax subtotal. In practice, many people tip on the total including tax for simplicity — the difference is usually small. This calculator uses the amount you enter, so enter whichever you prefer.
How does bill splitting work?▼
The calculator divides the total (bill plus tip) equally among the number of people you specify. Each person pays the same amount. If the split isn't perfectly even, the per-person amount is rounded to two decimal places.
